...!One of the joys of Flight Simulators is being able to "visit" certain areas of interest.
Like the recent landslide near San Bernardino, South California resulting in loss of life.

(This particular area is accuratly portrayed in the default scenery of FS 2002).
Try a flight over the area...

Aircraft: Cessna 182 RG.
Time 11.00 hours.
Date: September 24....(Gerrish Greys Autumn trees!)
Weather: As required.
Runway 6. (60 degrees on the compass).
Set radios for autopilot:
Set Heading: 045*. (45 degrees on the compass).
Set Altitude: 8,500+.
Set Rate of climb: 700 FPM. (At least, or you wont make it over the hills in time!)
Set Trim, Prop and Mixture controls for best results.
Head for Big Bear City (L35). (Spot the lake).
Observe the scenery all around you, and you can see the problem caused by lack of trees, due to the recent devastating fires, and resulting in landslides caused by the heavy rain.
