A Good Day For Me

Postby Iroquois » Sat Nov 08, 2003 10:35 pm

I went to the Canadian Hobby Show this morning and brought back a good haul of junk.  ;)

I bought a .46 Piper Tomahawk ARF and a die cast Sopwith Pup. I may start assembling my ARF tomorrow but I need to go to the Canadian Tire to buy latex gloves first before I start, if I don't, I'll end up epoxying my hands to the table.  ;D

There is a glue called Plasti-Zap that some stores sell.  It's made for models and is like super glue, but about 20 times stronger.  Try it out...

Orenda is wise to be careful. I have a friend who was a professional model maker for many years. Not model making in the conventional sense - he worked for a flight simulator company. He is also an RC modeller & regularly used epoxy adhesives both as part of his job as well as his hobby. The quality of his work needs to be seen to be believed. He once got a bad case of dermatitis which was traced to the epoxy. He is now allergic to epoxy in any form & can no longer use it. This not only meant changing the job he loved but also messed up his hobby.

I have another friend, also a keen & talented RC & indoor modeller, who had a lung removed after accidentally inhaling fumes from CA. He was lucky as he almost died. Accidents can happen to the most experienced people. Just be careful when using any modern adhesives.
