3) Panzer General

If you get Panzer General, Get PG 2.  PG1 is EXACTLY like a board game, and PG 3 just plain sucks eggs.  There is actually an online community that plays these, even though they are almost a decade old (for PG 1).  They are still quite active.

I've played both Panzer General 3 and 3D  and enjoyed them both.  I always thought that an air strategy game based on their engine would be good.

As for real time stratagies I tried "Sudden Strike" but found the units difficult to control.

So Crumbso, "Blitzkrieg" is worth its money.  I've heard it was good.  Do you know if it plays like "Sudden Strike"?

You'd be surprised how engaging these games can be.  Especially when you spend six scenarios building up a unit overstrength and some enemy unit comes along and wipes it out.  Do you have DSL?  I could send you a copy of PG2 or PG1 to try.  PG3 is way too big to send...

That's what people say about almost all of the add-ons available.  It's hard for me to enjoy anything if it doesn't look good.  Picky, I guess.  And Crumbso, those are pretty good, but I saw one with a Wellington (I think) bomber it was pretty poor.

How could we forget Empire Earth?!

Its a bit like Age of Empires except you can start in the stone age and finish in the 3rd millenium with everything in between. There is a WWII era which is well cool and you can have submarines, aircraft, aircraft carriers, B29's with nuclear weapons, foot soldiers, tanks, battle ships EVERYTHING! Whats more you can advance to post WWII and get cold war stuff. But if you don't want to leave the WWII era then you just set the perimiters to start in WWII and finish in WWII. ;D

Whats more its in 3D and you can set up a huge battle and then watch it in first person. Its well cool!

I've played it and for me it just lacks scale. It is nowhere near epic enough for me.

I know I sound like a broken record but I think blitzkrieg is the ultimate ww2 strategy game.
