When in the Mediterranian, you can stream out the HF antenna behind the aircraft, and radio to Shaw AFB in St. Louis! Then they can patch you through to Norfolk to talk to your families. All while airborne at 35,000 feet, on the other side of the world. They can't talk directly to Nofolk from the Med do to the "skip", which is radio waves bouncing off the athmosphere but miss Norfolk and end up in St. Louis. Cool huh...
