Concorde looks set to have the same destiny as the SR-71, and if that's the case what an undignified end that would be. Locked up in a museum for an eternity

There are only two aircraft which are so dedicated to flying that they literally disintegrate when on the ground, Concorde and the SR-71. What a cruel end for, even to this day, a truly remarkable feat of engineering and in the same year that celebrates a century of flight, maybe this alone indicates that the next century of flight won't be such a bright one... My advice, get to Heathrow's visitors centre before it's too late! Oh and Mr. Branson, please get Concorde back where it belongs!

my take on this artical and it may upset a few people but who cares.
this guy is talking out of his ass, i dont think he truely understands what it takes to run concorde, like most of the public i think he just thinks it sits at a gate fills with passengers and fuel costs nothing to do that and then leaves and does the same thing, which i think RB thinks to. personally concorde being retired to museums is a very fitting end for it, it gives people who would never have the chance to see it inside that one chance at a fraction of the price sure it isnt the same as actually flying on it but even admiring its beauty both in and out is enough for most. hell it coudl end up like some aircraft dumped in the middle of a desert to rot away. fair enough it is a remarkeble feat of engineering, but that has come at a huge cost, BA just doesnt have the parts for it let alone the money, air france has no spare rudders for theirs and are borrowing BA's and with airbus refusing to supply the parts now its the end, but as a few people have said, all branson is doing is ruining the farewell of the plane. and i for one am sick of it, hes a pompus ass that doesnt know the first thing about this plane and its operation, he has suceeded with his mainline fleet because of the professional YES men working for him who do know what they are doing. and if he was serious about this why doesnt he go and speak to airfrance the concordes they have are younger than BA's. again another reason why this is just a publicity stunt.
i think its time to put concorde in the museum and let it rest in peace. lets face it how many of these people who want it to stay flying will ever buy a ticket i know i couldnt afford

The Blackbird has not been put to pasture completely. Yes its true that NASA has a few, and a few went on display, but Beale AFB has a "few" blackbirds assigned to them. They are/or were at Edwards AFB and/or the Lockheed skunk works. The word is that the got an upgrade in every thing and may have flow missions during Desert storm, Operation "lets get that SOB that killed 3,000 people", and Operation "kick Iraqie dictator butt".
