Thanksgiving Day!

Postby Fozzer » Thu Nov 24, 2016 10:32 am

Thursday 24th of November.

A Time of Celebration!

As someone who is always interested in History, particularly North American History, I have never thought to explore the reason and history of American "Thanksgiving Day"!

So, for all those, who like me, were really unfamiliar with the celebration!....>>>>

Very interesting!

Seems like we Europeans had a lot to do with it, in times long ago!!

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all my American Chums!... ....!

Funny thing is, although I read all about it, and started a thread about; "Thanksgiving Day", and although it appears to be very popular in America, none of my American Flight Sim Chums responded to it in any way!
It appears to be a very important part of their history!

It is popular amongst the American Harley Davidson, etc, Motorcyclists, who got for rides, solo or in a group, to celebrate the occasion!

About the only thing that I celebrate, over here in England, is the day I retired (September 1984)!.... ;) ....!

Xmas Holiday is approaching now, so I will hibernate until its all over, and we can all go back to normal again!.... ....!

Black Friday has come and gone, and I didn't need to buy anything!... ....!

Paul,

Don't forget the other US Thanksgiving tradition... the Turkey Day Football (US) Game, where friends gather to toss the pigskin around before the big Meal.

Usually happens in the mid Morning or early Afternoon, depending on when the Feasting begins.

I participated in many through the Years, until my body couldn't take any more abuse. Now I just watch it on TV...

I agree with you; stay inside, avoid the Mutants on the roads, and have an enjoyable, relaxing, mellow Weekend!

(I think I'm going to do some Simming...)

Hello Alan..... :D ...!

Celebrated Thanksgiving Day with a Motorcycle trip from Morrison (near Denver) to the Red Rock Hills and a visit to the Amphitheatre!

Must try it in my Cessna 150, as you mentioned beautiful Colorado before!!

Fozz; in regards of fried versus oven baked the main advantage is that the meat is so moist and juicy. I'm like you the old trusted oven bake turkey injected with real butter and spices both have great taste but in my on experience the fried wins hands down when it come to juicy. That said smoked over apple-wood really puts that old country flavor into it and gives me that warm fuzzy feel in me old tummy followed by two fingers of scotch!!! Its all good just a matter of preference!!!!!

Paul,

Be careful when driving through Morrison; the Local constabulatory likes to stop Motorists and issue Citations... for ANYTHING!

If you're flying around in your 150, take a quick Cruise along the Foothills west of Denver; there are lots of small strips just right for your airplane!

GO BUFFS!

Alan.....

We have/suffer "Football" stuff over here!

A group of half-wits kick a Pig's bladder around a muddy field in an attempt to kick it into a fishing net at one end.

The one who successfully manages it, is then surrounded by his half-wit buddies who make various attempts to kiss, cuddle, and have sex with him....on the field!

Its just a feeble excuse to engage in open-air sexual activity....without getting arrested.

...trust me.... ;).... ;) ....!

Paul..... ... ... ...!

Football?......BAH!..... ..... .....!
