Ads

I use AdBlock Plus, a free ad blocker program, for general internet surfing but have it turned off on certain sites, such as Simviation.

I know that Simviation has little or no control over what ads are shown, but sometimes I have to wonder....

Even better than using ADBlocker pay for a members subscription and get no adverts and at the same time support Simviation !!!!.

Actually, I don't find the ads on Simviation to be too intrusive, and so don't mind them.

Although I didn't click on the herpes ad, I do click on the other Simviation ads from time to time.

And if FSPilotshop has a sale for what I want, I make sure to go there via the Simviation link to make the purchase, even if I found the sale through other means.

One advantage of the members subscription is a higher download speed. But I don't mind the slower speed, it all happens in the background as I do other stuff.

How well it works out, I don't know. But I think that it might be better if Simviation gets more ad revenue, as I click away over the years.

Obviously all support is not only appreciated (big time - thanks!) but totally vital to this site's existance.
Google ads pay about 0.01c > 0.5c per click -- depending what ad and how much that company is paying Google for it's ads. Luckily we do get enough main site users to click enough - but it means a lot of clicks to make it worth while (the forums pay just about zero incidentally). There are many, many, many more site users than forum users - & that - - along with memberships - is how this site stays afloat.

Flight simulation is a fantastic hobby and hopefully is only going to get better over the years as technology improves. But The reason it has been so successful in it's evolution so far is thanks to the fact that we (the users) can add on to it and customise it to our own liking. As long as that keeps happening (with the likes of P3D and ... maybe(?) Steam ....) , simviation will be here.

(& yes -- google ads are based on what google knows about you OR ... relevant to content on the site you are viewing --- so someone or thread may have posted something that contained a keyword the advertiser chose to use in his displays .... )
