For what must be the 5th time this year I'm having to reinstall Windows 10, no fault of the operating system just hardware and software glitches. Today's was the SSD going berserk and expiring, ah well these thing happen. We are now up and running with a normal SATA drive, tinternet is now on and am downloading FSX SE as I'm typing this. I think this time it's going to be a minimal install with just some ORBX scenery with a Tiger Moth, a Stearman, a Chipmunk and the Version 3 C-47 and actually try to learn some things. Like many I can take off and arrive back on Mother Earth, but I have no idea of how the steer a compass heading, enter a circuit correctly or even how to communicate with ATC so it's back to basics. I will then add more scenery and planes as I need to

Now where did I put the flying hat, gauntlets and scarf these open cockpits are a bit on the drafty side.

Yes, I have had similar problems over the years, including a northbridge chip on the motherboard exploding when the voltage regulator on the MB failed. Thank god for backups I say.

Actually, coming down, out of the clouds on a dark night, and finding the runway that you were looking for is tremendous fun.

In real life, I'd probably have to wear brown pants, but in a sim....

I downloaded Steam's Dovetail Flight School to see how it works. If anyone is just interested in honing circuit flying, I highly recommend doing that. It's not quite up to P3 or even a well worked FSX, but it has pretty good generic scenery and an accurate flight model for the Piper and Cessna. I haven't got the Damond twin to work right but, like I said it's great for honing basics.
