cutting-edge what?

Postby Hawkeye07 » Tue Jun 02, 2015 9:51 pm

I bought a four pack of wine (187ml bottles) for the missus to add to her cooking recipes. Well, tonight I finished off the bit she didn't pour in the pot while I was eating this delicious concoction and is my weird habit I was reading while I ate. Instead of a book I was reading the side of the wine four pack container and something struck me as a totally stupid marketing phrase. It read " The unnamed winery ......provides unbreakable bottles that are safe, convenient and sustainable. Used exclusively by (unnamed winery), these bottles use innovative technology with cutting-edge recyclable materials."

Now I admit I"m not the brightest bulb on the tree by far but what the hell are "cutting-edge recyclable materials"? Either this marketing guru needs to be fired or I need to submit myself to OAM's stupid people topic.

Sounds like self patting on the back.
It can be either recycled or it can't.

I've researched this for you, and found that during processing at the inner core of a nuclear power plant, the HIGH radiation produces several results.

Aside from the massive amount of radiation strengthening the bottles, the shelf life of the wine is greatly extended.

The empty bottles themselves can be used to light up parking spaces at night.

The liquid by-product (urine) of the irradiated wine may reduce Prostate cancer. Or it may cause it. They're not too sure on that point.

The unnamed winery is quietly researching all the possibilities of this cutting edge material.

It would appear that 99.9% of marketing guru's have their collect heads up their collective rectal cavities. They must think we were not born yesterday, but in the early hours of this morning. Two examples spring directly to mind as I experienced both yesterday.

Firstly I was trying to sort out a mobile phone for one of my children. The sales assistance was telling me you get X amount of free calls, data allowance and up to 5000 text massages a month. Firstly, that works out at, for my oldest using his phone for 12 hours a day, 14 texts an hour none stop for twelve hours a day for 31 days......Is that possible, but back to topic, 5000 text messages in a month......Hallo, but who still uses text messaging as provided by their service provider. Get with the program guys, text is so yesterday, it is almost the equivalent of 1980's shoulder pads it is so old.....But still, I can offer you this wonderful package and you get ten zillion text messages a month, now is that a deal or is that a deal....

And:

I was idly look at a car yesterday. My BMW was in due to power window problem.......Does everything on a car have to be controlled by a damn computer. What is wrong with a power cable and a rocker switch.....??? But again I digress. Whist my car was having it's electronic brain interrogated, I wondered the forecourt and clapped eyes on the same car I have, but the newer model. So I was looking and I was got by the salesman. I humoured him and let him give his spiel. The car has this, that, the other and it has electric windows, power steering and ABS.......WOW   Power steering and ABS you say and electric windows, bugger me is this car really packed out with goodies and advanced technology. However, I said to him, it is a bit to expensive for me, do you have a car with only electric windows, I don't need power steering or ABS.....He looked a little confused and informed me that they come as standard on the car..................Well my friend, you just shot your sales patter in the foot somewhat and I walked off leaving him looking rather confused.......

Matt Said "Firstly I was trying to sort out a mobile phone for one of my children."

I have studied this same situation a great deal and I have discovered that a mobile phone, cell phone here in the colonies, is not really a communication device.
It is in fact a teenager life support system or "TLSS". Take the phone away and they start gasping for breath and looking bewildered and disoriented.
Girls seem to be more dependent than boys for the most part. Heaven help us if Putin ever decides to take out our microwave towers!
