I dug up this thread because there's some new info I'd like to share with y'awl.
I finally, finally got around to updating my browser. Or trying to. Using Internet Explorer since March 2011, it finally fell apart on a few major websites of mine. So I figured, OK, let's update with the latest IE. It was just rocket science, they wanted SP1, whatever, and other impossible downloading issues turned up. So I tried Google Chrome, that just didn't cut it. Next try, Firefox. Very good. It loaded all my IE bookmarked sites quickly, and finished the whole business in just a few minutes. Learning curve was about 5 minutes, just very user friendly.
> So this now brings me to the subject here: GOOGLE MAPS. With the old IE8, on my system, the old Google Maps was fine. But for some unknown reason, at my bosses computer, with IE11, the new Google Maps had some minor but irritating problems, one of which was that the maps view wasn't showing the street names sometimes, depending on the zoom level, and overall seemed just a pain to use, It got to the point where I would only use GMaps at home.
But on Firefox, Google Maps works well, and I'm now seeing it as good and probably better than the old version of GMaps to the point where I would not go back to the ole version even if I could. I also noticed the TILT feature, essentially a bird's eye view, very interesting. It's in the lower right area. I'm satisfied with Google Maps now. I'm also very satisfied with Firefox. I've noticed one automatic update since I started using it, so maybe Firefox will always be current. There are features in FF that I like a lot, there are none that I do not like.
