If the analog radio spectrum takes up less space that the digital spectrum it wouldn't make much sense to force everyone in the country to abandon analog receivers.

Digital TV was promoted as taking less space than analog TV and the US government had to provide digital to analog converters to anyone that wanted one. I got 3 of them, took took the batteries out and threw 2 in the trash. The picture was so bad on the converter that I threw it and the TV away shortly after.

I believe the law was called the Time-Warner/Comcast Welfare Act because after this terrestial TV was essentially dead.

My habitat locale is a very poor, erratic signal area. Much of the time I can't get a cell phone connection through -- or it will cut out in the midst of the call. There is no TV reception (going digital was absolutely no help); the antenna is used for FM reception (located between channel 6 and channel 7 in the vhf band); without the antenna, my Marantz can only receive a few stations -- and my sports, weather and news stations are in the FM band.
