Old Girl and I lost both our parents several decades ago but Mothers Day for the Old Girl has always been a wonderful day in our home...
We spent the day at the old homestead with our oldest son, wife and children.
One of the few days he was home, usually he is out flying a large spam can for the military or airlines.
Phone calls came in from both coasts of Canada and overseas from our other children along with cards and gifts sent a month ahead...well our postal system need to be disbanded and monkeys hired to do the job.
With the docks in, the Cessna 185 off wheel/skis and on amphibious floats the Old Girl, our son and one of the grand children went out for a Mothers Day flight around the cabbage patch...Old Girl even got in some flying.
Reason for sending her flying was so some of our long time neighbors we associated with got to drop in and surprise her when they walked back to the house.
Vehicles were hidden in the hangar and elsewhere so she had no idea they were there.
BBQ chicken, hamburgers, sausage along with sweet potatoes, roasted potatoes, three or four different vegetables, pickles etc. were part of the main course.
Pie, cake, tarts and ice cream soon followed.
Another great Mothers Day was enjoyed by all and we returned home last night around 20:00 hrs.
