Ya, what Happens in Vegas - Leaves Vegas !!

I got to Spend 9 whole Days in Vegas, ended up staying at the Luxor Casino / Hotel.

Went and seen the National Atomic Muesum while I was there .

Seen the New MOB Museum, and myself Made !

Then, I went and seen the King,,, ELVIS at the Museum inside Binions Casino, on Fremont Street ! which was Free !

Then, I stood next to a Million Dollars in Cash, and tried to make off with it,,, but there were sum slight problems, so, I left it there !

Later I ended up at the Flamingo Casino,, and tried to find my old friend, Bugsy Siegel, but, I was told, he died , long time ago, before I was born ! :D

While stumbling around the Flamingo, checkin out the Chicks, I shoved 100 in a 1.00 dollar slot machine - and out came $750.00 buckaroo's !

the Next day I was at Harrahs and stuck 100 in a slot 25 cent machine and out came $550.00 Silver thingy ma jobbers !

That was it for me I Quit after that and just spent the rest of my time eating, at all the restraunts, walking around seeing the sites, the typical things, Leggs, more Leggs, and what the Leggs are attached to as well,, lotta Leggs,,and other things too !!!

Did I tell ya about the Leggs ????

Enjoyed the 60* weather in Vegas while it was in the teens and 20's back home ! in Kansas City back home (Casino)

Got a lotta sleep, Won sum money, stuffed ma gut, and got to see sum Leggs !!!!

then, I came back home, to wonderful Freezing cold Temps,,, and wished I had those Leggs I'd seen to keep me warm :D

9 full days in Vegas, flew out on Southwest NON STOP and came back on Southwest non stop not badd trip !
Might go back in the spring maybe I seen something I want ,,,, Leggs !!!! :D :D :D

Lucky you!.... :D ...!

I spend lots of time in South Cali, and Las Vegas in Nevada, but only in the Flight Sim where the weather is always nice and warm/hot, and walking around; "The Strip" in Google Street Map!

..and for a look around 'Vegas there's always CSI (Las Vegas)...which is actually filmed in and around Santa Clarita in the Los Angeles San Fernando Valley!
(CSI Miami is also filmed at Long Beach, Los Angeles Valley!).

I'm off to Owen's Valley, California, this afternoon.....where many of the old Hollywood Cowboy films are filmed!

Paul....in Lone Pine.... ..!

Many moons ago, during my life in a dark blue suit, I went to Vegas twice for Red Flag, three weeks apiece. Climate was great and lots to do and see without even stepping into a casino.....Not that I am saying I did not...... ;)
I then went back as a civilian for a four day trip with my wife when we toured the US in 1999 for six weeks. Again, we spent more time looking at the sights. Evenings was $20 into quarters and nickles. Play the slots, get a couple of free drinks. Sometimes we were back in out room half an hour later, one night it was early morning...........with several posts brimming with quarters.........

for those who ain't been to Vegas in like years, like in 10 or 20 years,,,,,

Vegas has really changed and NOT for the better actually !

I've been there as a kid in the mid 1960's and the 1970's and by myself in 1986 and again in 1988, and once in 1998,,, hadn't been back there since 1998 and was I taken back by whats happened, actually saddened !

Many of the newer Casino's built in the last 5 to 10 years since say like 2000, are kinda blahhh boring buildings - they are NOT using NEON lighting like they used to anymore, their mostly using Can Lighting and Back lit lighting and also the new LCD Display for signage !

Gone are the Good ol' days of the "Glow" of the Neon, lighting and all the flashes and the warmth of that Neon Glow emmited from the tubes of special gasses that a professional Neon Artist would of done ! Gone is the Desert Ambience feeling of the Neon Desert, the way it used to be back in the 30's 40's and 50's and 60's 70's era.

Now, its mainly shiny glass buildings, with no NEON anywhere on the outside, lit with backlit signs or cheaper Can lighting.

Inside the casino's are just the opposite, filled with expensive architure and fancy everything and NEON around the slot machines .

The people are even different then when I used to visit there in the past decades -

Gone is the Ambience and Atmosphere of what Vegas used to really be like, when people were proud to be able to visit there and grateful just to be able to be there from a long ways away. People / Visitors used to actually dress up just to go down on the Casino floor and Gamble or eat at the buffets or restraunts !

NOW what ya have, is typical Joe Blow, in Sweat pants and a T Shirt and floppers, nobody dressed up , you'd think you were at the vegas garbage dump, and YOUNG girls anywhere from 14 years old to 18 dressed like out right Hookers and Sluts straight off a Porn film on their way to another Porn film, with their dresses so tight and so short its ridlicious and I'm talking - YOUNG girls not chicks here now,, I mean YOUNG too, scary type young , like in 30 Year jail bait scary !!!

Don't get me wrong or take this the wrong way hell, I grew up in the 70's and the Disco era, tight pants short mini skirts boots,, loved it,, but, they were worn by actual women over 18 or 20 years old mostly,,, NOT teeny boppers barely out of puberty !!!

Tho I did see quite a few hott mammas I'd like to of Jingled their Jangles !!!

Streets were packed day and night and this was at Christmas time , I'd thought everybody would be home with relatives, why I went to avoid the crowds.

FOOD at the Casino's ????

The Good ol' days are long gone ! Gone are the days of the $4.99 breakfast or the all you can eat for 8.00 lunches and dinners,,

NOW its all Celebrity Chef restraunts Wolf gang Pucker or whatever he calls himself, which sits 1/2 Empty most of the time from what I seen, with prices PER PERSON , anywhere from $15.00 to $80.00 per plate depending on what you order , NOT including Taxes and the TIP ~ !!!

Lotta od "Supposedly" Celebrity Chef restraunts out there now, with nobody in them, and if theres is, its very few, besides the employees standing around with their thumbs up their backsides for lack of business, well Duhhhh who can afford those prices ???? especially if you have a family !!

So, the Phony celebrity restraunts were basically not full ever,, but ,,, head on down to DENNYS on the strip, and its PACKED and the food was good and plentiful and the help great !

I'll add I ended up eating a breakfast at the Harley Davidson Café on the strip, and for $11.00 dollars got 1 hell of a great Omelete , was terrific no complaints !!! Better than the meal I ate the night before inside the LUXOR Casino, that cost me $27.00 dollars that was their so called Buffet for that,,, that was the night I just arrived there and was hungary enough to eat an entire heard of grizzly bears !!

Also, Vegas is way more spread out than it used to be - be advised - have good comfortable walking shoes or hiking shoes and put GEL PADS in them, your gonna need em' trust me !!

I walked the 2nd day, over 9.4 miles from 1 end of the strip south end to the North end to the MOB Museum on fremont street more less, and I was sore and tired, ended up taking the city bus back , all day pass like 7.00 bucks, Taxi are too expensive nowdays out there !

MONORAIL SYSTEM in Vegas - The Monorail runs on the backsides of the Casino's on the East end of Vegas, from the MGM all the way NORTH about 75% north of the strip and quits -
All day passes are like 5.00 bucks and 2 day passes are like 7.00 bucks, BUT, where the monorail lets you off on the backsides of the casino's , your still gonna have a fair amount of walking to do, a lotta walking to get into any Casino, and if its 90* to 120* outside, your gonna be very hott quick !

I didn't take in any shows out there, because I'm not really into those kinds of shows they have sing and dance shows, unless their naked or something :D :D :D

Most of the Entertainers we all knew are long gone now, NOT the same like it used to be , gone are David Cassiday, Seigfried Roy, and of course Frank, Dean and Sammy and Peter,,,Gone is David Copperfield, and many others

What ya get now , is some type of Michael Jackson type Dance troupe, and some other RAP / HIPHOP Gang Banger Car Jacking Shots Fired Venue or something like that, didn't interest me in the slightest, so, I never paid the 30.00 to go see what I can see on the TV News everyday for Free anyway !

Street People : Lotta those Hangin out there now, on the Crossover walks over the Strip - holding Signs for donations , trying to perform card tricks drunk with 1/2 deck of cards that don't match, then ask ya for a donation ?????
Then, ya got your Wanna be somebody musical artist passing out CD's they made, always saying hey man, listen to my music,,,, heres a FREE CD, won't ya listen to my music ??? well then, how bout' making a Black man happy and make a donation huh ???

Of course I made a donation to his DVD , not sure what I really got as far as whats on the DVD, because its still in my suitcase from 2 weeks ago, for all I know it may be a BLANK CD, for all I know, but, I only donated a 1.00 because I felt, ya know I might be being played for a Sucker, get back and find out its blank or theres nothing on it ????? Ummmm I'm a Sucker, would you believe it, I'm a Sucker boom boom booom,, tune tune beat, boom I'm a Sucker ,,, more boom booms and beat beats ,,, :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Yip, I had a wonderful Time in Vegas unlike ever before - doubt that I'll be back, Next time , Monte Carlo' or Aruba or Maui or just stay at home and turn on YOU TUBE, save my money and pretend I been there :D
and a lot less people to deal with and I don't have to take my shoes off to be inspected or Scanned, next time, think maybe i'll drive,
just not overseas,, I can't swim !! :D :D :D

and that's how my Christmas Vacation Went in Vegas, I never did find Clark Griswald either ??? :D

Paul,

If you were up around the Owens Valley, hope you took your fishing rod! Kern Creek is nearby, and has some awesome golden trout fishing. Another place to visit is the Manzanar National Historic Site...

Hello Alan... ...!

I remember you mentioned the place to me once before...

I immediately flew around there in the Flight Sim, and explored the area with Wikipedia, and at low level in Google Satellite Maps.

Only a few building left there now.

Between towns, (apart from the modern roads), from old photographs, Owen's Valley scenery hasn't changed much since the early Settler's days in the 1840's.

Fantastic history of those times!
