When I first installed FSX I had to modify the permissions on it's folders so that I could make the changes that I wanted.
It was something that I knew well, but something that others have had problems with.
This looks to be more of a problem for those who have Windows 8.
Some might have followed my skull bashing problems with Prepared V2.
The BIG problem was solved when I discovered that Prepar3d V2 would only install properly, for me, when I removed my antivirus program.
After that I found that every time I tried to save changes, the program would crash. No warning. Just crash.
Figuring that it might be permissions related, I reinstalled Prepar3d V2 to my secondary drive, free of any limiting permissions. Same problem. Crash, no warning.
I then spent a day trying to track down every Prepar3d folder and change its permissions & access rights. It still crashed, but now it gave me a popup saying it had crashed, before it disappeared.
The LM Prepar3d team seems to have a problem with error handling & reporting.
Instead of going on, let me introduce you to a very simple program that has resolved my last Prepar3d V2 problem.
It's from the most wonderful people in the world, the Estonians.

Maybe I'm being just a little overboard, but as soon as I ran their program Prepar3d, MUCH TO MY SUPPRISE, started working the way that it was supposed to.
The program is called SimAccess from FlightSim Estonia.
It's as simple as simple can be. You run it once, and you're done.

It did a superb job of tracking down my Prepar3d folders & files. All I had to do was click on OK.
I can't say if this'll help everyone, but it did solve my latest Prepar3d problem, so give it a try.
It'll create a System restore point for Windows 7 & 8 if you think that you may need to revert the changes.
