Skysim DC-9, FSX and Hydraulics

Hello All,

I've been recently getting into flying the -10 series DC-9 in FSX and I've found a curious thing. It seems that I only have working Hydraulics if I set the switches into the HIGH position. The LOW position appears to do nothing and the OFF position is self explanatory.

Could anyone please elaborate as to what the LOW setting is for? (I'm used to flying my Airbus A320X so I'm trying to learn more about these earlier jets and their flying techniques.

Regards,

I believe in a real DC-9, the High Pressure setting is used for takeoff and departure so that you have enough pressure in the system to raise the landing gear and the flaps, or activate the brakes etc...  The low pressure setting is used for the rest of the flight when the demands of the system are less.  It keeps the pumps from wearing out.

that sounds feasible, I'll try some experiments so see if that is the case in the sim as well. Thanks
