I need this answered

Postby A-10 » Fri Feb 19, 2010 7:43 pm

What is the answer to every flight question possible to ask?

I need info on:

ATC

Radio Communications

Flight Techniques

Emergency Procedures

Take-off

Landing
and everyother in-flight thing that can be done,
this'll probably becoem a huge hit very quickly.

I want to know this so that I can be a great pilot, and impress my instructor when I go to flight school this summer.

another question eating at me is what is the:
Outbound y-intercept

the out-bound y-intercept is on the panel, the flight instructor on my flight sim, said to take the out-bound y-intercept, so that I can make a proper landing. does that make any sense, because I couldn't make sense out of it.

take the out-bound y-intercept, so that I can make a proper landing.
Could that be similar to a teardrop turn?

Never heard of it, and I've done a lot of course intercepts.

in Olderndirt's post he gives a link to the Pilots Handbook from the FAA.

I will go a little more Broad and say look though EVERY FRIGGIN LINK, better than that... take the next 4 years and read EVERY FRIGGIN WORD from EVERY LINK... http://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies ... s_manuals/

once you do that.. you will know pretty much EVERYTHING the FAA knows.

Good luck with that. I've been flying airplanes for a decade and don't know the answer to every flight question possible to ask. In fact, I know people who have been flying many decades and they'll all tell you the same.

And I'll add that the most important thing regarding knowledge for an airman is not how much you can impress people with what you know, but how much you can impress people with your constant willingness to learn something new.
Start thinking you know it all and you're headed for trouble.

As for the "Y-intercept" thing, a y-intercept is a geometry term; has to do with graphs. I can't see how it would have any relevance to an instrument approach.

What sim and what panel are you referring to?

A-10,

Go to www.faa.gov. Click "Regulations & Policies," then "Handbooks and Manuals." Then expand some of the options. There are a bunch of flight instruction books there. Load up your printer and print as much as you need. It's free.
