What is the best headset for under $400? I'm tired of the ear pinching ones the Flight school lets me borrow.

I've owned quite a few different types.. and have used just about every type out there..
In your price range, IMHO, there's only one choice..

I totally agree with Brett here. I have used an H10-13.4 for the last two years now, and it's like flying with pillows on my head (yes, I know that's a stupid comparison, but it's just so comfortable, even more so than a Bose set I used a couple of times during training). The mic is of great quality and the sound is clear as a bell. You can't go wrong with them.

My current set is Telex, probably the best bang for the buck 10 years ago... still work great.
However... the next set will be David Clarks.

Im currently using the David Clark H10. Great headset, but I'm also looking into lightspeed aviation mach1. It only weighs an ounce and it looks like it works for general aviation prop planes as well. Sigh, its above $400 though

I still dont have my own but I've been useing DCs, they work pretty well. But if you buy used though go and get some new gell ear pads and a new mic cover.

Get the David Clarks and then one day down the road when you've got some extra money head over to
www.headsetsinc.com and pick up the ANR conversion kit for them. The second best headset purchase you'll make in your pilot career. In my opinion it makes them quieter than the Bose then combine that with the already more comfortable fit and you have the best headset you can get.

yep - for the money - david clarks all the way. had mine 10 years and have only replaced the Gel ear seals with some thicker ones and the microphone "muff" and thats it. those things are practically bullet proof.

All I've ever used has been Clarks, and they are well worth the money. My next set though will be noise cancelling. :)
