I have just started trying to fly jets in FS2002 and CFS2. My question is in FS2002 how do I know what percent my power is set at? Is there a gauge on the jet panels equivalent to the tach on a prop plane? This is not a problem with CFS2 because the HUD shows the throttle setting.

On a turboJET(727-DC8-737100)You would use engine RPM and monitor Turbine Temp or EPR(engine pressure ratio). On a turboFAN(Lear 45-777-747-757-Airbus)you monitor N1 and Turbine Temp again. On some aircraft fuel flow or N2 will also be used, but generally, N1 is used on modern jets as the primary reference for setting power.

Hi!
Ottol is right! The gauge that you are looking for is the EPR or the N1!
The EPR gives you how much the engine is accelerating the air flow from the suction to the exaust (thrust ratio),and the N1 is for how much rpm the FAN and/or the low pressure turbine is going at!
Cheers!

Don't know why RR and PW still uses the EPR. That must

[quote]Edit: Is EPR short for Exhaust Pressure ratio, or ENGINE Pressure Ratio? Since you compare the ratio between intake and exhaust?

What's that piece of machinery between these two called again?

So did I win anything? ???
(I was being a jackass , I kinda knew you meant ENGINE earlier as well, just tried to be funny, but I guess I failed :'( )
