A couple of "quick" settings, (if you don't wish to do it manually, the correct way!)

Is your Altimeter reading the correct altitude at the airfield that you are at?
Press "B" to set the correct "Barometric" atmospheric pressure at the airfield, and therefore the correct altitude!
(It is often useful to press "B" during the flight, to correct any changing atmospheric pressure during the flight).

And what about your panel Compass. Is it pointing in the right direction?
Press "D" to set the correct "Direction" corresponding to your Magnetic Compass.

For those with FSUIPC (and if you want the most out of FSX/FS9 you really should have it) you have another option.

The buttons on your joysticks, throttle, etc can be given a second command.

In my case, when I hit the break release button, it also sets the altimeter.

What version of FSUIPC is that? I think I still have 3.6 or something like that. Yours looks so much more usable.

I suspect that is the Payware version, You, like me, probably have the more limited Free version.

Yes, it's the payware version.

It's capable of doing far more stuff, than I am capable of using it.

But it does let you do a great many things very easily, and more than a few things that would be impossible to do without it.

Even something so simple as sending two commands with one button or key.

It's kind of hard to describe the program. Until you start playing around with it, you probably won't understand how useful it can be.

The more equipment you have the more that you'll need it.

If you mainly use the keyboard, you'll probably be fine without it.


The first use that I made of it was to make my Saitek Radio Panel work the GPS onscreen in FSX.



You would not believe how incredibly easy it was to do that.
