High flying Cessna!...

Interesting read. 2 pages:

Reminds me of the many times I have exceeded 15,000 feet ASL on my many flights over the snow-capped Sierra Nevada Mountains during my flights from Sacramento to Reno in my little "Flight Sim" Cessna 150 Aerobat, without being aware of the (sim) dangers of reaching very high altitudes without an oxygen supply!

Revealing the many hidden dangers of Flight Simming versus of real flying... :o ...!

Paul... 8-) ...!

I think that's actually one of the biggest problems with the sims: pilots who train entirely on sims (like myself) are bad at risk management and make poorer decisions in real life because there is no risk in the sim. I'm sure that if you had to reformat your hard drive after you crashed your MTOW A380 while trying to land at Saba, you'd be less cocksure in the sim. And if a sim pilot with aspirations of becoming a real pilot learns risk management at his desk, we'd have better pilots out in the wild blue yonder.

Its just the same as starting up by hitting ctrl E. A lazy desktop pilot equals a dangerous R/L pilot.

Without proper training, it just goes to show how unrealistic computer Flight Simming is, compared to real flying, for all sorts of reasons.... ;) ...!

It's like your Dad taking you for driving lessons, rather then an experienced Driving Instructor.....

.....or worse still, training on a Truck Simulator!... :o ...!

Real flying is a totally different experience, all round!

Nothing can replace actual flying for training. In particular, nothing can replace training in a simple aircraft without autopilot.

Problem with real flying now I'm over 70 is that my arms get tired.
