Tail slides FS9?

Postby jfg123 » Wed Apr 14, 2004 6:18 am

To Flight sim pilots,

How do I stop the tail slides, is that possible with FS9?
I see these slides in the outside plane views, like in the P51 in turns. I know your suppose to use the rudders pedals to prevent these slides, but my Sim is set at auto rudder control. Any ideas or is this just not in the software of the FS9?

Hi,

Well, like you said, you need to use rudder pedal to adjust you heading on the track. It turn because when you apply the load in the upper portion of you blade, the load is transport at 90 degree to your blade. The result is a little deviation of the heading.

If you want to still set your autorudder, there is no way to prevent that. But you can set you keyboard to control the rudder. Another solution will be to buy a joystick like the WIngMan from Logitech. It is a pretty good joystick.

Hope you will try to set your rudder.

Thanks Frego....for your suggestion, I do have a great joy stick a Logitech 3d pro joy stick. And maybe the solution as you infere is to shut off the auto rudder and use the twist function on my joy stick to keep the tail from sliding.

I am not a pilot and never have been on an airplane, becuase of my inner ear problem, but love to fly sims. and dream of being one day able to fly for real, but for now I like to make it as close to real as possible with sim. stuff and all the helps you people are willing to give, thanks.

One thing I've noticed with sliding and spinning. If I have the engine at idle, there isn't enough wind over the rudder to have an affect. If your having problems with control, keep RPM above idle to provide air flow around the rudder. Try not to use ttoo much as you'll start spinning. I hate tail draggers.
