flight school info for future students.

I regret not looking into University of North Dakota.  After being at Embry-Riddle for almost a year now, I dislike it.  UND seems to have a better program in a few manners, cheaper (price wise), they teach you how to cross international borders (Riddle doesn't), UND has Raytheon biz jets (Riddle has jet simulators), in North Dakota gets actual IFR weather.  So for those who were looking into colleges with flight schools, check this out.

I'm considering leaving Embry-Riddle, mostly because I despise the attitude of students, I have only been able to get along with maybe 5 at most, if I would stay it would only be for one thing, all year motorcycle weather.  Just remember, just because the school is the "best in its field" doesnt mean its good for you.

My main thing to add here is:

Current Tempature in ND: 1*F
Current Tempature in FL: 70*F

Another thing to mention is the connections or networking you can do while in school. There are a hell of a lot more flight departments in FL then there are in ND. Then again I don't even recommend an Aviation degree....

personally i am not worried about how good a school is. Like you said its whats best for you as a person. I am trying to avoid an aviation related degree as its very unlikely it will be any help in the non aviation world should that career not happen:)

yeah, I agree to an extent about having a aviation degree may not be much help outside of aviation, but my parents say that they won't accept just flight training at the local FBO...

the temperatures in North Dakota are bad, and I thought it was bad here in AZ

i am looking at getting a degree in Physics or Maths which wil not only help in the aviation world, but in numerous amounts of other jobs.
And theres nothing wrong witha  small local FBO, they can usually put more time into students than these huge schools with loads of students. From what i have been told at least

The bad thing about college flight programs, is if you get into a position where you have to rush a few flights it sucks, so far this weekend I have flown roughly 10 hours of cross country, have at least 4 more hours coming tomorrow :'(, my back is very sore from sitting in Cessnas all weekend....

your lucky your even able to fly at all, right now i am broke, and stuck on terra firma:)
i have also heard that taller people 6 foot+ have trouble fitting in the cessnas?? i hope not as that would mean finding a piper warrior which is more expensive to learn in, being 6'2 has its disadvantages.

yeah, finally done, 13.6 hours of flying cross country, on Sat, Sun, Mon, get up at 5 am and go do weather, fly, get back sometime in the afternoon,

Its been a while since I last flown a Piper Warrior, I think they run about the same price as a 172,  I don't think a 6 foot some inched person would have trouble getting into a newer cessna, the ceiling is cut out and has a "moon roof" (window in the ceiling, no idea why I called it a moon roof),

yeah I should feel lucky that I have the resources to keep flying, hopefully you can join the rank of pilots soon :)
