Private Pilot Certificate cost

Just wondering, what's the cost to obtain a private pilot certificate in your countries? I was told in Greece it is about 5000 euros which is a significant amount (about half car cost). Please mention to which country you are refering to when reply.

In the U.S. ----------around 4-6 thousand dollars.
In any country, the MORE time that you spend on the ground studying, the less money you will spend overall.  ;)

Hi Poseidon,

             Well, in Canada,  it cost a minimum of 8000$ to get your private license. This include 40 hours of flight.

In the USA I believe I spent about 3-4 thousand total, I think it was cheap because I went to ground school and finished it before even starting to fly
