To the dark side

Postby B52bob » Wed Sep 12, 2018 9:42 am

I have spent so much time and $$$ on FSX/P3D over the last few years I am just tired of the hassle to get it working properly and buying add-ons.
I had tried X-plane in the past and was not impressed. This time I tried version 11 and I’m sold. Great graphics and a huge community of freeware developers. Quick and easy setup of aircraft and scenery and an option to have key controls set to FSX/P3D. Love this program. Payware is also less expensive. Downside: poor ATC.

Still love and use P3D but I’m able to spend more time flying and less time tinkering.

I find myself going backwards, presently spending more time in FS2004. I have FSXA, FSXSE, P3D4 and recently XP, also DCS, Il2 1946, Moscow and Kuban. But FS9 just keeps on giving. It's 15 years old for heavens sake!

P3d for me. Never had to tinker with anything and for my kind of flying it's just what I need. Never stutters. Never crashed on me yet.
And I don't want a whole pile of payware. In fact none. Circuits. Local flights. Flying airport to airport. Great sim!

I've been a MS FS guy all my life, but XP11 convinced me to switch over. I've spent over $500 in addons since.

Good for you but FS2004 is enough for me.

To those with FS 2004 and are happy with it, fine and continue to enjoy.
My point here is that flight sims have made tremendous leaps the last couple of years with two great sims available, P3D and X-Plane 11.

Try the free demo of XP 11 and see for your self.

Yep, I'm also spending proportionally more and more time in XP11 and spent more money on XP11 add-ons in the last Black Friday sale than on FSX/P3d.

FSX still comes in at a very close 2nd place in terms of time spent, with P3D v3 in a more distant 3rd position.

I haven't made the leap to P3D v4 yet, there is too much greed and excessive pricing going on there to my liking.

FS2004 is installed on my computer, but it is fading into insignificance, can't remember the last time I used it.
