Don't they always look so amazing in the promo shots? :D

Doubt if it will take open source addons . In which case I'll stick with P3d (FSX). But if it does that's promising maybe.

We are all looking forward. They do follow the community, as they come from addons with FSX-STEAM. I`m pretty sure is going to be an open source.

I've heard from two people who are suggesting that DTG will only allow add-ons from "certified 3rd parties".

Microsoft, also, wanted to control WHO could produce add-ons for Microsoft Flight.

So at this point I'm less than thrilled.

I don't think that is the case if you watch the promo video.

Pay attention to what the one guy says at about 2:10 in the video.

DTG have said that payware developers can sell their stuff through their usual vendors BUT must also sell through DTG/Steam. Nothing about freeware developers as yet.

So, DTG want to sell us a 'early' release? So they want us to buy a beta version & test it for them?

Popcorn time!! :violin:

If this is released as a Steam game than you will have to have steam.
There is a advantage to using steam there are no discs to worry about and even if your current system blows up when you get a new one all you have to do is to download it again

I read a article over at Avsim from PMDG's Director, they are not happy about the 3rd party rules DTG is mandating. As far as using Steam I agree with gary, it can be a blessing if your systems lets out it's magic smoke  .

That sounds like Prepar3d! Seriously.

Lockheed Martin made a lot of noise about Prepar3d being a serious training program, AND NOT for gammers.

And I believe it. Or at least that the end product is intended to be a multipurpose training system.

But their website is flooded with some of the silliest beginners questions that I've ever seen, and from people usually referring to Prepar3d as a "game", ON the LM website.

In the end, I think that LM really IS selling us the right to use various Beta versions while they work on it's development.

Think about it. How much money would LM need to invest to do a good job of trouble shooting P3d on an almost endless supply of computers.

Don't get me wrong, though, I prefer Prepar3d to FSX even if I do have to buy a P3d Beta every now and then.

Erm, no, P3D is certainly not a beta. It is being developed & updated constantly, hence the various releases.

Just because there are 'silly 'beginners questions on LM's web site, certainly does not make P3D a game, or lessor sim. Remember, no matter what newbies or others post, P3D is still, with the correct hardware, a training tool, for commercial use. Professional users certainly will not put up with a beta program.
P3D is not sold as a paid 'early access' program at all. They are a professional non gaming company & do not expect their users to troubleshoot for them.
