It's a WAV file in the FSX/Sound folder. Just delete it

Maybe save it somewhere in case you want it back.

and if you find it still plays, rename this one fsx/sound/GPWS_Dont_Sink.wav
The reason I suggest this one is that there isn't a gpws folder in my installation.
The other one that irreitates me is 'too low terrain' when your deliberately low for a reason.
Wouldn't it be better to replace those files with a totally silent .wav file rather than the risk of a program crash due to a file being called that doesn't exist?

I always thought the default "Don't sink" and "Low Gear" sounded like "You're sick" and "Oh dear!". At first, I thought it was commentary on my flying.

That was a good show.

Has anyone ever flown in a large simulator? Is it harder than flying in FSX on the PC?
Even though those messages can be annoying, they do serve a real purpose in some flying situations. They also add to the white knuckle effect when you can't see anything out the windscreen while landing in the muck.

A long time ago I assigned a button on my throttle base (X52 Pro) to the GPWS toggle on/off.
So now when the irritator sounds off I have the ability to silence the annoyin' thing.

Now if I could find that setting for my lovely (sometimes not really) wife, then all would be well with the (domestic) world!

I work on the B-52H sims at Barksdale. It's as different as driving a car vs driving a PC car sim. In the simulator, there is total emersion, including motion cues when the motion system is on, not to mention the field of view out the windows.

Sounds like too much fun. Plus you get paid? Some folks get all the luck.
