If you can stand and operate a tablet-like interface on a non-touchscreen system with the mouse, by all means, buy it. It seems to be compatible.

I cannot. Either stand nor operate it. And I'm hardly alone at that.

Will wait for Win9... IF M$ will have learned their lesson.

I am not sure what the grief is with Windows 8. I have it loaded and it works every bit as good as Windows 7.

There is a learning curve but there has been with every new OS.

I will be the first to admit that if you have Windows 7 there is really no need to upgrade as there is not that much new in W8

That's the problem exactly. Now that we know we can use Win8 with the same interface as Win7, the question has been raised...

In WHAT way, WHERE and HOW is Win8 different than Win7, beside the new and mostly useless Metro tablet-like interface? :-?

I steadfastly REFUSE to learn to use a tablet interface on a mouse system. >:(

The differences between the traditional interface of Win7 and the one under Win8 are easily compensated.

I don't believe Win8 is just like sVista or Millennium. They both were hastily end badly coded versions of Windows... actually Me was a last ditch attempt to save the 16bit Windows versions M$ made a memorable hash of, while sVista was and is a beta version of Win7 put on sale prematurely to make some $,

That reminded me of the boardroom scene in Tron: Legacy...."So what's the difference between OS11 and OS12?     'A different number on the box.' "  :P

If it's not broke, don't fix it!
My FS9 and FSX run perfectly happily on Windows 7 so why change?
Just my two penny worth.

I'm old enough to remember the same "I'm never ever gonna run that new-fangled Windows" claims back when XP started replacing Win98. I think it's a cycle we have to go through whenever a new OS is released. History repeats itself. And the old dies hard.

My thanks to those who reported that FSX works okay with Win8. Good to know.

My 10-year-old son's been using a LePan Android tablet for about a year. When he saw Win8, he said, "Looks cool. Better than using a mouse." I'm not ready for a new user interface, but he is. I think that's the future, like it or not.
