After many years of not playing Flight Simulator.  How do I know if I need to install the service packs?

Right-click on fsx.exe & select Properties. Click the Version tab. These are the version numbers.

The only tab I see is 'previous versions' and it shows none... do I install the service packs?

Click on "Details" tab.

It gives all the details of the FSX version.

Paul....FS 2004... 8-)

Sorry. It might be different depending on your OS. To find the version number run FSX & click Help > About on the menu bar.

After reading this thread, I looked up what ver. of FSX I have.
I found out I have ver.1.

Question why should I install ver.2?

I won't be able to check it for a few days.  Working a lot, won't be until Sunday.

I assume you mean FSX SP1?

Question why should I install ver.2?  What would I gain??

Thanks for your advice!

Chief

This is what SP2 does according to Phil Taylor who was a member of ACES, the FSX developers. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ptaylor/archive/2007/10/02/acceleration-and-sp2.aspx

I do know that some 3rd party aircraft will not display properly without it.
