Just a little information.

FSX including FSX Steam version.

Just a little information.

Hi there,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask for help, but I figure it'll at least have the most up-to-date answer.  I noticed the simulator called "YSFlight" on this site and wondered if someone could give me a short "What to expect" if I download it and check it out.  In other words, is it worth the effort or just an outdated waste of time.  I've been into flight sims since before Microsoft's FS1--so there isn't much that I haven't seen.  BTW, that early sim was called "Jet" and it had "Stick" airplanes---really crude---but also very exciting in that it was forecasting the future, just in case anybody remembers back that far.

Thanks for the help,  from

Are you talking about "MS Flight"?  If so, the short story is that Microsoft tried to completely change the format of flight simulation, and failed badly.  It was not well received, and has since been cancelled.

No, he's talking about a sim called "YSFlight".  I Googled it up.  It's very basic, and unless there's been a major update to the graphics, the only things it has going for it is that it runs on 10 year old computers and was (and still is) free, and open source.  I only saw one YouTube about YSFlight (there were a few more), and was not impressed by the graphics.  But then again, the vid was posted around 2003.  Unless there were some major modifications since the ten-year-old YouTube, I wouldn't bother.

On the other hand, for the time (of the vid) it wasn't too bad for an independantly developed free-ware flight sim, though nowhere near as good in the graphics as FS8 or later.

Hi again,

Yes, it's YS, not MS.  I think I'll take your advice and just pass on it.  It's just that every time I see something that I haven't seen before, it has to be checked out.  Not this time.  Thanks for the replies, guys.
