No Ford Trimotor for FSX? Tell me it's not true!

I tried the CR1 donationware Ford a while back but it was too poly-heavy for my PC to handle so I'm left without a Ford Trimotor (sniffle). I've searched high and low on the net for another one with no luck. Tell me it's a bad dream..
PS- I had one in FS2004 of course, but I gave the sim away and the Ford went with it, so i haven't even got one to port to FSX to try

Okay, am still trying to find GW Smith but in the meantime i downloaded this one by David Grindele from Flightsim.com, it's a 12-machine package and they all look and fly great but unfortunately cause scenery graphic breakup as in the bottom pic, half the sky is fine, but the other half is flashing away like a film negative, reminiscent of the opening of an Outer Limits episode, I keep expecting to hear a voice saying "do not attempt to adjust your monitor, we are controlling transmission".
Nevertheless I've tried to get rid of it by adjusting resolution, view distances etc but nothing helps, so i've fired off a mail to D Grindele for advice and will go off to pout and sulk while awaiting his reply unless anybody else can suggest what i might try?
(I'm vanilla FSX, no scenery or weather addons)

Try GJ Smith. http://www.gjsmith.net/Textures/ford_tri-motor.htm

Note that these are textures only that won't be much use without the FS9 default Trimotor.

Hmm, livery project expert Ed Moore just gave me a link to a Ford but it's the exact same one that's causing flashing.
He also said the following, but i don't know what he means by "convert textures", it sounds too techy for me (sniffle)..

[i]"There are no Garry J. Smith repaints in this ZIP.

OK. I'll check it out.

"There are no Garry J. Smith repaints in this ZIP.   You will need to convert his textures for FSX...."

He's the expert but FS9 textures shouldn't need converting to display in FSX. See my shot in my previous reply.

Incidentally regarding the flashing, it only seems to occur when the plane is in an altitude band from roughly 300 feet to 1000 feet, how weird is that?
And I just got this mail from GJ Smith-

[i]"Thanks for your enquiry about an FSX Ford Tri-Motor.

Nice looking AC, wonder what would cause that type of graphic glitch. Its a shame.

OK. I checked it out. I get the same flashing as you. Very odd.

I swapped the MDL file for the FS9 default & that seems to have fixed it. Not sure what he's done there.

Note that the above shots are the "converted" FSX version with Garry Smith's British Air Navigation Company repaint. The textures don't need any modification for FSX except for a thumbnail.jpg in the texture folder.

Okay thanks guys my problem seems to have been resolved regarding the flashing sky with the Grindele FSX Ford, you have to overwrite the model file with the old FS2004 one..:)

PS- and incidentally I asked CR1 software this-
"Hi, I bought your Ford Trimotor a while back but my poor old PC hadn't the power to handle it (sniffle).
Did I hear you say in a forum somewhere that you're releasing a low poly version for people like me?"

And have just got this reply-
"Not low polie but it will run better for you, It will be the 5at , you have the 4at, but you can buy the 5at and the patch for the 4at will be in the package."

so it looks like anybody buying the CR1 Trimotor in future should specify whether they want the 5at or 4at.
