Hello to everyone at Simviation Forums. As a new member I will try not to look foolish. I hope I am in the right forum. I am an x employee of EASTERN AIRLINES and have been flying FSX for about a year now and just learned of Simviation website. Are there any EASTERN AIRLINE CIVIL JETS and how do you download them. You are talking to the guy who destroyed your bags....I dont know crap about computers. Thanks, RAMPRAT

Historic Jet Group, hosted here at www.simviation.com/hjg has a ton of Eastern Airline aircraft.  To install, right click on the zip file and uncompress the file.  There should be a read me file that tells you where and how to install the files to FSX, in the Sim Objects folder.

What I usually do is create a new folder on my hard drive and name it Temp, or whatever you would like to call it.  I then direct any file I download to go there, so I have a common place to store them.  That is the first step to downloading an aircraft from the internet.  Then you can start following the other directions on how to install the download.

Don't get frustrated, we will try to help you get the most out of your flight sim.

Hi Ramprat,
I made a folder in "My Documents" called FSX. That's where all my FSX downloads go.
Now, you need Winzip (free) 7zip to open a zipped file.
Once you open it you could have one or more folders.
Lets make it simple.
You have downloaded a Boeing 737-800 and it went to your FSX folder that you created.
You open it and find 2 folders inside. One is Effects and the other is Simobjects.
Open the Effects folder and copy and paste those items into the "Effects" folder found in the FSX main folder.
Open the "SimObjects" and do the same. Copy and paste the 747-800 into the FSX main folder.
Look for this.
C:\program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Simobjects\Airplanes.
I'm not going to talk you into joining a VA, but you might consider joining Deer Valley Flying Club.
Download Teamspeak.
With Teamspeak you will find any member from DVFC will walk you through, step by step on how to install aircraft, textures, scenery and more so that you can fully enjoy FSX. And it's all free.  :)

Hi RAMPRAT. Before attempting to offer advice it would help to know which operating system (version of Windows) you're using. The basic principles will be the same but there are differences between Windows XP, Vista & Windows 7.

What I usually do is create a new folder on my hard drive

It's all very well saying create or make folders but a raw beginner will have no idea how to do that. We need to go right back to basics here.

First you need to know how to access the C: drive. This will depend on the OS. I'm not familiar with Vista or Win7 so no longer feel qualified to offer advice except in general terms.

Right. I assume you're using the Internet Explorer 8 browser.

It's a long time since I've done this. I can't promise anything but I'll have a go at walking you through it. First of all to help you understand what I'm talking about please read my Windows Basics article. http://www.simviation.com/lair/Windows%20Basics.htm

Also read my Working with Windows article & set your Folder Options like mine. http://www.simviation.com/lair/windows.htm (To open a folder double-click on the My Documents icon on your Desktop.)

Tell me when you've done that & we'll go on to the next step. We'll download & install the 757-200 package here --> http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=POSKY-757-200_Winglets_ver.1.1.zip&categoryId=&filename=Y

Click on the link & save the file to your My Documents folder. (This is the default location for downloaded files.)

SORRY,BUT GOT A BRAIN STORM LAST NIGHT AND TRIED THE 727 DOWNLOAD. WHEN IT DIDNT APPEAR I REMEMBERED YOU HAVE TO EXTRACT THE FILES SO I DID AND PRESTO I KNOW HAVE A WORKING BAHAMAS AIR 727 BLACK.... I DID READ YOUR PAPERS SO IF YOU WANT I WOULD LIKE TO TRY THAT 757. GOT EVERYTHING SET I HOPE. IT LOOKS A LITTLE DIFFERANT BUT SHOULD BE OK.

It sounds like you've got the general idea of this. To save a lot of messing around I'll write a proper walk-through when I have a few minutes & post it on my Lair. I'll post the link here when it's done.
