Default Cessna 172

So,for the past few Sunday evenings i've been enjoying the Easternhops 172 flights via default multiplayer in FSX. When i'm in a large groupe,it doesn't matter if I'm the first to take off,i'm usually the last to land. These guys (not all of them) will usually blow the doors off me by anywhere from 15-25 miles. I always keep the mixture where it needs to be and have been experimenting with the trim. I played with the trim last night and went from 65-70 kts to a nice 110-115 but it still wasn't enough. I'm wondering if there is a way to "Turbocharge" my little 172. One guy flew by me like he was in an F-18 and doing crazy loops and dives :o. Is it an aircraft cfg thing? If so is it easy to configure. I'm not looking for warp speed, I just want to keep up with em. And it has to be the default 172. Any help would be appreciated. Just got a few texture sets to spruce my little plane up. If its possible to make her look mean then surely theres a way to make her fly a little mean too ;D

Paul (Foz) might be able to give better advice on 'turbocharging' based on his near super sonic C150, but 2 simple edits should give you more speed.

In the aircraft.cfg

[piston_engine]
power_scalar=1.0  //increase the value.

[propeller]
thrust_scalar=1.0  //increase the value.

....you obviously need my trusty Cessna 150 Aerobat, with its 150 HP, Turbo-charged motor, capable of cruising along very nicely at 140-150 knots!..(Note: I only weigh

The 172 you've seen performing loops was certainly a guy using a plane that was not installed on your computer. FSX will replace an unknown multiplayer model by one of the default planes.

I don't think it would be a good idea to modify the default specs for that plane. What's the point of using a plane that doesn't compare anymore with the real thing ?
If you want a faster prop plane, you could try to master the default Mustang or the default Extra 300 (I love them both). The default Baron is quite nice and fast as well. If you want to keep with the Cessnas, you could simply give a try to the FS9 default C182, which flies pretty well in FSX. And honnestly, it still looks pretty good, much better than a lot of freeware planes available out there ;)

I gather Mike's particular organised Multiplayer flights (Jared?) are all supposed to be based on using the default Cessna 172's.

Correct. Anything other than a default FSX 172 gets kicked from server automatically. I did download the Easternhops 1.7 this morning here at the V. I thought it was going to be just a texture pack but ended up being a whole plane. It looks like the default 172 but with IMO way better sounds and of coarse there texture sets for the members. Some of which may not be used but a handful of them you can (as far as not getting kicked for using one of theirs,its in the readme file). As far as who organised the flights I havn't a clue. I went to their website and apparently they kick off the 20 hop tour around 11 am EST. I usually jump in between 6-730pm EST. I don't know any of them. I think they use Teamspeak or maybe default server comms,No ATC,but also have an inflight radio station with DJ that pumps the Jams on the Sunday hop tours.

I plan to use their plane next sunday and see if there is any significant differences.

Oh and check out the freeware screens I am posting now of my new 172 repaints I got earlier this morning. Again not faster,but she does look..well....HOT ;)

I am always a bit wary of gate-crashing someone else's flight on a specialist Server...and using the Chat Window...Its far too easy to annoy them!
I tend to stick to my usual Mate's flights, organised or free-flight, where we all know/annoy/amuse each other... :-*...!

Sim V's Multiplayer Forum is the place to have a cup of tea, and discuss the next flight... 8-)...!

Paul....Chief Tea-maker, and Mechanic!... ;D...!

I really need to get that up and running but there is so many ports to open,then test then set up teamspeak and what not. The only reason I use the default on FSX is I'm lazy I guess. But at the same time alot of you guys fly 04 even though I know there is an FSX server as well. Who flies the FSX server here and when?

You will most likely find that most Multiplayers use the FS Host Server for all their flights.

http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/

FS 2004 and FS Nav Pilots connect directly to any FS Host Server with the drop-down Multiplayer Menu.
FSX Pilots connect to the same FS Host Server via "FS Host Client"!

Very few Pilots use "Gamespy" for FSX and FS 2004, on-line flights.

Multiplayer Pilots use FS 2002, FS 2004, and FSX!

All Multiplayer connection, etc, details here:
http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/

"FS Host Spy" will show you every Server, their IP Addresses, who is on line, and where they are !

Mike...rush down to the Multiplayer Forum. All is revealed there!

Very few of us use Teamspeak....most Pilots use the Chat Window = simple!

P.S...If you want to test your Router, etc, ports...run this..>>>
