I had a p4 3.0 cpu on a asus P5GDC MB, and I located a P4 3.8 CPU for an upgrade.Everything went great till I go to start FSX & FS9 and I after it starts loading I get a fatal
error (no #) message.
I tried taking out config file to see if it would build new one with new cpu info still does same thing.
All other programs work fine,
Has anyone got any ideas other than reinstalling about 100 gigs of flight sim & adons :-X

OK, Your saying that you changed the CPU and that's all?  Try this,Sometimes the logbook.bin can get corrupted. Remove the fsx.cfg and the logbook.bin to a different folder to save as backups, then fire up the sim and it will write new ones. If the sim starts up, leave the new fsx.cfg then try replacing your new logbook.bin with your original and see if the sim starts. If it doesn't start than you will have to start with a new logbook.bin. I back up my logbook.bin after each flight just in case the famed fsx logbook stops recording flights or gets corrupted. Other than that could be an add-on got corrupted, hope this helps.

This Forum & the people who gather here are awsome. That worked, for fsx, lost a few settings but easy to get those reconfigured, looks like all scenery and adons came back after puting old FSconfig file back.
hope it fixes FS9 too
Iv'e been flying MSFS for years and this one had me worried,
thanks for your help
