FSX including FSX Steam version.

Anyone got any ideas what going on with my wake texture?

my AIcarriers have started doing this. I've uninstalled aicarriers and reinstalled it but it's still doing the same thing

Any other addons that may have overwritten the wake effect since the trouble began?

This is just a guess, but it looks as though an .fx file originally written for FS9 may have snuck in your effects folder somewhere. .FX file coordinates are ordered differently in FS9 vs. FSX, where the longitudinal parameter for an FSX effect is actually the verticle parameter for FS9. So instead of the effect trailing behind the ship, it's rising up from it like smoke. Like I said, just a guess.

The only thing I've changed since it last works is installed the Feelthere ERJ 175/195 addon.

I'll keep fiddling with it and I'm sure I'll find something eventually  :)
