Access is denied

Postby Flying Trucker » Fri Sep 23, 2011 1:15 pm

Good afternoon all... :)

Still working on my FSX and trying to install 3D Lights but all I am getting is Access is denied.

Using Windows 7 and Notepad.

All boxes are checked giving me control so not sure what is wrong...any ideas?
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Since I don't like disabling my security settings for a moment cause I always forget ;D ;D. I just move the Aircraft.cfg into the desktop, edit it, save it and then move it back into the original folder. Saves allot of time :).
Enjoy your 3d lights ;)
Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

W7 Program files(x86) is 'protected' - this is the default install location for FSX in W7.
M$ thinks users are mostly idiots so it doesn't allow us to modify those files inside the folder.

Answer is to modify files outside -- delete that file in FSX

Doug, have you turned off UAC, user account control? In Win7 it causes a lot of problems in FSX. Additionally, FSX installed in C:\Program Files (x86) causes problems.

It is best to install FSX in C:\ or another drive all together.

To turn off UAC, go to the Start menu and type user account control in the search box. Click on user account settings and move the slider all the way to the bottom, Never Notify.

Then click on OK. This will make life a lot easier in dealing with FSX files and folders.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.
