Please halp me settle a discussion with a bull-headed flyer...

ILS Landing, Apt chart shows RWY 23 L; Approach 226 deg.
Where is the 'course' set- 230 or 226??

Look at the attached approach chart for 36R at DFW

The appoach course is 356 (APP CRS 356), not 360, so in this case you set your approach course (heading) to 356.

Look for the IAP (Instrument Approach Procedures) chart for the runway in question and that will tell you the approach course.

If this is a US airport you can probably find the chart at www.airnav.com

you will also have to take into account "Magnetic Variance" for that airport. HENCE, Airport RWY Hdg 23L ..... Approach 226.
