Is there any addons that make the bloom for fsx run better?

the defualt just cripples my system, and it doesnt really even make that much of a difference (exept my fps)

Any suggestions?

ohh and on another topic is it possible for the clouds to leave shadows like they do in Lock On Flaming cliffs 2?

Yes, it's called "new BEEFED UP graphic card". :D

It's a bit expensive... and it's not really guaranteed it going to work... but it's the ONLY add-on that CAN do something about it. Such is FSX. ;D

lol I would get one of those but I need to replace my entire computer.. Motherboard and everything. but for now It works ok with FSX, and can still have everything maxed exept bloom..

I just remembered that there was a bloom hack for fs9, and was hoping that fsx may be has the same sort of thing

Are you using default bloom?????

If so, consider trying ENB Series Bloom........It has no impact on frame rates as far as I can tell ;)

For default bloom, http://fullterrain.com/freebies/TWEAKED ... SHADER.zip
It leaves the effect/look the same, while reducing the hit on FPS.

For ENB, go to FlightSim.com and search for "fs9bloom.zip"

FSX is probably the only game in history where enabling bloom halves the frame rate. It's not very efficient. There's no real way around it.

You can try ENB series bloom for FSX, it looks great, especially if set up correctly, but it's not the same effect as default bloom. Try that. It requires a lot of time to set up, but I can give you my settings for it if you like.

Also with bloom disabled the sun looks ridiculous imho.. if you want the sun to look better with bloom disabled then try the sun mod from here:

You're new to M$-style coding, aren't you? :-?

"Different" doesn't mean forcibly "worse"... actually, the other way around is true most of the times, at least when M$ is concerned. ::)

Copying two files and tweaking a text file takes a lot of time? :-? Well, at least you CAN tweak it, differently from the default one. :P

In the present case, differently only means "differently". The default bloom and the ENB bloom are not doing the same thing, and both should be used at the same time for the greater results :)

And yes, you can tweak the default one. Haven't you donwloaded the first file linked above ?

Let the sleeping evil gods lie, alone and undisturbed. FSX (bloom-less and there to remain like that) is for the kids and putting myself in the mind state to tweak it only invites the wrath of Murphy (the already mentioned evil god) upon my head. :P

Well, to "tweak" the bloom requires a good load of programming knowledge, because that bloom.fx file is quite complex inside.
But the alternative one that is included in the package TWEAKED_BLOOM_SHADER.zip linked above brings in a very nice performance increase. Before that, I could not afford the native bloom in DX9 mode, now I can, and it's a nice feature visually speaking :)

Be it as it may... I know not what you people are talking about... I've just finished tried it (in spite of my best intentions to leave it the hell alone) and this new and tweaked bloom is just about as heavy as the previous one on my game system. Just hope no problems are going to byte me in the metaphorical ass for having attempted. :P
