A fatal error has occured. Dangit!!

Hi, I am a fsx fan and I mainly fly commercial airliners(Airbus X, CS 767, CS 757, etc.) And starting today, I'd set up a flight plan and start flying, and about 2 minutes after I'm in the air, BOOM "a fatal error has occured" and then "FSX is restarting" and it will just continue to do that. Anyone know what might be causing this problem? I uninstalled all freeware planes(only had about 2 and was going to erase them anyways) and any software things that were just junk. (Such as adobe download assistant) Any help would be much appreciated! :)  Thanks, and have a wonderful day, happy flying! :)

Someone else will probably know the answer here..............in the meantime...... back up your FSX Cfg. file, then delete it. Next time you run FSX it will write a new Cfg. file. This helps sometimes.....I think somehow the Cfg. file gets corrupted. Anyway, it can't hurt to try ;)

What Chuck said...........and.......what's worked for me from time to time, when I get the fatality notice, is to have a good clean fsx.exe and visualfx.dll copy handy.

Deleting the fsx.cfg has worked for me when I'm hit with a smattering of fatals, usually when/after/during I've done something to something and knew absolutely nothing about what I was doing. :-[

For instances when FSX will not start at all, and I get the all too familiar fatal error thingie, replacing the fsx.exe and visualfx.dll handily corrects the issue.

Fortunately I don't get a lot of that too often anymore, but trial-n-error and the awesomely knowledgable folks around SimV have educated me a ton! :)

I stand corrected, it does work! Thanks Guys. And southwest, that's not a fix, well I mean it is but it wouldn't officially help since it's a fix mainly for fs9. Thanks though ;)

Story of my life...had to fly CYWG-CYYZ which is about a 2 hour flight 3 times this week. Usually ill get this message about once a month so it wont bother me to much but for some reason had it alot this weekend and wasnt on ACARS so no saved flights. Just had to restart.  :-/

being that I do have Win 7 - 64bit. when i try to end the flight by clicking the red X or by END FS IMMEDIATELY, it would always hang/freeze then ERROR CRASH.  I tried this and it does work for Compatibility Mode For Windows 7!!!!!

thank god. Now all I have to do is end the program and no more DA#$ error messages saying that "FSX Has encountered a problem and needs to close"  -- NO $#!T I told it to close!!!!
