Hi,
I am totally new to this hobby. My son and i would like to get into this flying game but we don't know where to start. I have seen some very very realistic looking airplanes and sceneries on youtube and that is also why I would like to try it. What do I need to get started? assuming I want realistic airplanes and airports not low resolution stuff I have seen from some games. Please give me a list of things I need to get started. All feedbacks will be thankful.

Firest, if you're interested in FSX, make sure your computer is up to it.  The "minimum system requirements" listed on the side of the box will give you less joy than a tooth extraction.  The more processor and graphics horse-power you have, the better, and there is no such thing as 'overkill" when it comes to FSX.

In order to get the best use out of FSX, get the FSX Gold edition.  It has basic FSX, along with SP1 and 2, and the Acceleration package.  (Some would also contend that FSX without at least SP1 and SP2, is also less enjoyable than a tooth extraction...)

If you don't have much experience with flying, FSX has tutorials that you can use to get you from your basic taxi to take-off and landings, and all that boring ATC stuff, to "yank-n-bank" acrobatics.

After that, it's up to you.  There are tons of free-ware add-on aircraft, sceneries, aircraft textures, and other "tweak" add-ons that enhance the sim (Check the ""Simviation  Free Site" link above).

Welcome to Simviation and FSX!
