What do you do?!

In the olden days I still used the default ATC and saw a small Piper or Cessna in front of me about to land, to avoid the default idiots in the virtual ATC ask my B747 to go around, I would simply enter the date and time menu and press OK. This simple maneuver would force the sim to recalculate the AI, leaving the glideslope free for my Jumbo to land.

correct me if im wrong but doing that would still cause the ATC to send you on the go-around

Nope. Given that between your big iron and the runway there's one or more way slower and too close interloper, enter the date and time menu and without making ANY changing press OK, the sim will interpret this like a changing of time anyway and will recalculate ALL AI, freeing the way between your plane and the runway previously occupied by that (those) troublemaker(s).
If you do this BEFORE the ATC calls for your head for go around, you're always given clearance to land.
Oldest trick in the rack. 8-)

More than a few times I've dropped it in over departing traffic only to have them climbout over me if I fail to clear in time........or worse if I trajically fail to clear in time.

On my approach to KMDW today about 300 feet from touchdown after a 4 hour flight, ATC tells me to go around for another aircraft that's landing. Where was the aircraft in the air? NOWHERE TO BE FOUND!....
What do you do?!
. If I'm at decision height and the runways insight after I've been cleared to land I'm landing. I've been directed to land on water even thoe my aircraft isn't equiped with poontoons. And fegedabouit if you filed a IFR flightplan, you'll get sent 100nms out on a goaround and an ailtitude change 10,000' above the airfield elevation ( sucks when your burning up your reserves and your landing on fumes). Also what about the taxi and hold dance! HOLY MOLY!, at a large airport you'll be an hour into your flight be for you even take off! Also the AI chatter just gets to monotonous after awhile (nothing like hearing a cessna doing touch and goes for an hour)
So anyways, these days I only use the ATC when I'm flying around my home base doing test flights. Other than that, like Strategic Retreat said, I mostly fly online. It's much more fun chatting with other simpilots that are out there on those long cross country flights. And once in a while you get some real intelligence up in the tower when someone wants to be ATC.

I would normally go around but a few days ago, I was finishing a flight and ATC told me to follow so and so in. He was a big guy, not sure type but was moving much faster than my Saratoga and was way ahead of me. So I lined up, got nice and straight and was making a beautiful approach and I noticed he had stopped on the runway. Nice distance out, more than enough time for him to move. Getting closer, he's still sitting. Get to the fence and I get the go around. Not in this lifetime, I hit it dead center and lay on the brakes. I think this bird's engines were actually sucking me in but I stopped behind him. He was sitting at a taxiway doing who knows what up there. I drove around him and hit the taxiway to parking. ATC reamed me but they didn't say anything to the guy out there doing who knows what. But still, normally, I would go around.

If this were real-life or say, VATSIM, I'd go around.
