Fingers crossed

After a week of trying to reinstall FSX, I have now succeeded, sort of!

I tried to install FSX in C:/FSX, but despite selecting that as the path, it installed itself in C:/program Filesx86 etc, etc., no idea why, but it is up and working, so it is going to stay there.

So far, and fingers crossed, I have not encountered the problems I had when I first installed FSX.

The problem was to do with some aspects of Windows & running in the background and MS suggested I rebooted the PC after turning off all sorts of odds and sods and it worked.

Now I have months, or even years of tweaking FSX to my specifications. It took me six years to get FS9 to my taste, but hopefully FSX won't take as long.

One thing I can't find on any version of MS Flight Sims is a government notice warning that that it could be Hazardous to Wealth

it is just the experience that i have learned, take it or leave it.... but i say NEVER put ANY flight sim program (or other game for that matter) on the harddrive where Windows is installed... the C:.    ALWAYS put it on a different harddrive even if that means going out and buying a new drive just for FS.

Flight sim likes to use the C: for virtual memory, and if it is installed to that drive (anywhere on that drive) you are taking up valuable space that it could use for virtual memory, even if your drive is 5TB in size.   FSX out of the box takes up 15GB of space, now add in 6 yrs of addons, and that space gets filled up quickly... not to mention all of the Windows Updates that need to be installed.

Now, i am not telling you that you MUST uninstall it again, but if you have problems in the future, then this might be something you might want to look in to.

Happy flying; fly safe; and happy landings
