This is a link to a site that is very often mentioned in FlightSim forums when someone asks about navigation issues. It's extremely thorough and takes some working through. But if you can manage to work through all the various explanations of navigation techniques, you will never again (well, hardly ever) have a problem with navigating.

Hope you find it both interesting and of use.

If you are complaining about the ATC constantly giving you correction headings, then it's because of the wind that is pushing you out of the route. Once you are far away enough from the route, the ATC gives you a new direction to get close to it again.
Once you are close to it enough, the ATC tells you to go back to the normal heading... and of course the wind will push you away once more...

The solution is to keep an eye on your GPS. The route is shown there. If the ATC tells you to head 090, but a strong wind comes from North, then head 085 or 080 instead, choose the heading that will keep you on the route. The ATC will not bother you as long as you stay on the route.
