Controller for FSX

For some odd reason, our kittens love fine gauge wires. All our computer and peripheral cables have to be wrapped in flexible plastic "conduit" to keep them from destroying the devices. It only took the wife 3 corded mice to catch on! (We both are wireless now).

Came down this morning to find my favorite FSX controller (my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro) cord in shreds. Seems I forgot to put it away last night and one of "our pets"made me pay for it,...in spades.

I'm now looking at replacing it with a wireless model, but am unsure what to get and am turning to the FSX Community for input. I've checked "Product Review" sites and am hearing that the wireless Extreme 3D Pro seems to have reliability issues along with the loss of force-feedback, as the batteries don't generate enough "juice."

Wondering what you "swear by" or "at" when flying....

My first choice would be for wireless USB. I'm running FSX on a Dell Inspiron powergaming PC under Windows XP.

Any thoughts, recomendations/warnings would be greatly appreciated.

I have never had much luck with wireless controllers. >:( but that is just me. What I use now is a T.Flight Hosts X. It isn't wireless but it works really well. The wireless controllers don't seem to last as long as the ones with wires, but again, that is just my opinion. ;) The wire for it is pretty thick so I don't think your pets would have an easy time destroying it.

I have had success with the Logitech Freedom 2.4 cordless joystick for about 3 years now but, I don't know if it is still available.  My only issue is that the 2 buttons I use for pitch trim seem to be wearing out but that is a mechanical issue.

You can probably replace the wire. If you can't do it yourself, any electronics shop should be able to replace it. Shouldn't cost too much.

Get a spray bottle and fill it full of water. Anytime the cats get near your toys, spray them and give them one of their toys. After a while, they should catch on. I was very worried about my cat when I first got him, but the old boy is pretty darn smart. He doesn't mess with anything he isn't suppose to. It is like he instinctively knows what is his to play with and what isn't.
Anyway, I understand the water spray works wonders, if you have to train them to leave things alone.

It's not worth fixing an Extreme 3D Pro...

Best cheap option:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Flight-S ... 861&sr=1-1

Good cheaper option:

Cheapest:

For the record, I still fly with the Extreme 3D Pro, I just don't play FSX much so don't feel the need to invest in a better stick yet. :)
