Hi simviation,
so i was playing on FSX one fine afternoon and everything was perfect. A scenic flight from carlisle to preestwick in a cessna 172.when after 30 mins..it exited and a message popped up sayin something like ''thankyou for playing Flight Simulator X demo..etc...etc..''...when in actual fact my fsx is not a demo and i have been playing it without a problem for a year or so..so in order to resolve this problem i un-installed the game. but when i came to install it again it was fine up until the very last stage of the installation process in which an error message (error 1772)....i really miss fsx so does anyone have any advice on how to resolve this problem??

Well heres whats going on so far, If you try to re-install and you get 1722, then you can shut off your computer and you will only have the demo. well i didnt pay 50 bucks for a demo right? so right now we are trying to figure out a way to fix this, in the mean time you can try microsofts correction of it by google search "fsx re-installation error 1722". you will find this is a very common error. i have it right now as well and i have been fighting it for three months now, but i am determined to find a solution so we can get back in our cockpits.

good, i have the same thing, it will be easier to work with you. So was there anything that caused this, or something that happend just before? like square lights for example( was my trigger) that caused you to reinstall?

yes, once i was playing on it and after exactly 30 mins a message popped up in-flight saying something like "you have reached the end of your allocated demo time..."? this was a big problem as i couldnt do any long haul flights which i love doing. so i un-installed but then of course when i went to install it agsin i got this stupid error 1722? thats all i can recall im afraid hope it helps :-/

this is a message a friend sent to me:

Hi kev,

Ok, if your command prompt is closing on its own? and it shouldn't do, there are other ways to do it. follow the guide upto section 9 then do the below:
I have to presume you can use notepad and save files?
copy and paste the lines in between the *****  below into notepad:
*****
cd C:\
pause
Type cd MicrosoftKB928080.
pause
dir
pause
Type resetsldl -All
pause
*****

save the file to your desktop or anywhere else you can find it, give it a name such as resetsldl.bat
The .bat part is very important otherwise this cannot work.
once the file is saved, close the notepad and double click on the file you have just saved.
After each line it will stop and wait for you to press a button.
Once it's finished, as long as you have done everything in the guide upto point 9, then this little file will do the rest for you.
Kev: I didn't notice where in the world you are, I'm in the UK and tend to login in most days, I'll keep checking to see what you have done.

Ps you can type command.com at the start/run 'window'
and
if you get any error, chances are you've not done something in the fix guide.



ok so thats it
but first you have to go to yahoo.com and type in fsx re-installation error 1722.
go to the microsoft page.
download the fix and save it to your desktop
THEN
you must extract the files onto your desktop, then be sure to use the instructions above, then put the disks in and wala! it works!
finally!
we have a cure.

save it to desktop before running
unzip files to desktop
then follow steve's steps


after: save the notepad to the desktop.
put in the disk
put in the second disk
