No textures

This may be in the wrong forum, but I'll start here.

My problem is this:

All of my aircraft downloads - 3 or 4 -  since Nov 28 encounter this problem: When I click on the picture to go flying with it, all the textures have disappeared! The plane rotates perfectly, and loads properly, albeit without any textures! Yet everything else works perfectly - gauges, panels, etc.  This just started as all of my other downloads prior to that date - and I only have 3 or 4 - don't have this problem, nor do any of the default planes.

Due to the fact that everything is working, I am going to assume that the solution lies in the C:\...\FSX\Texture folder, and not in the downloaded files.  I am not savvy enough to know how the relationship between this folder and the texture folder of the dowloaded file works. I think there is a missing/misdirected/corrupt file in that folder. Its totally weird!

I have tried to compare the texture files of the planes that work with the ones that don't, but its beyond my skill level to recognize any differences.

I would be grateful if someone would point me in the right direction.

the airplane texture must be in its own texture folder in the aircraft folder

like

Model
Sound
Panel
texture
texture.1
texture.2...etc

Does it looks black?
Does it do it with the default airplanes?

do you have service pack 1 and 2?

You can upload a shot in simv's up loader

follow the rules ,just jpg,png, gif and not bigger that 1024x768

It looks grey, does not do it with th default airplanes, and both SP's are installed.

Sounds like you have DirectX 10 Preview enabled. Try disabling it from FSX Settings.

In typical aircraft downloads/installs there is no relationship between the ..\FSX\Texture\ folder and the installed ..\\texture\ folder.

This 'How to' may help sort out your problem. http://www.simviation.com/acinstall.htm. This how to is for FS2002, but principles still apply. You'll see a link to specifically installing aircraft in FSX.

Are you installing complete aircraft or 'repaints' for already installed aircraft? Could give a link to one or more of the downloads giving you problems?

The problem as was identified by Hagar was DirectX 10 Preview was checked off. I unchecked it and everything works fine.

Now I know why I am just a base member and not gold or platinum - just kidding.
