error in glideslope?

Postby EVVFCX » Wed Dec 01, 2010 1:52 pm

Hi fellow simmers,

Can somebody check something for me:
Just done a flight at UK/Doncaster Sheffield Airport, (EGCN)set glideslope/localiser to 110.95 as given on the map for runway 20 but the glideslope is way off keeping you too high.

Also on the glass cockpit C172 I can only change the decimal part of any frequency via the knobs whether it's comms or nav.
I'm in 2d cockpit not VC, didn't fly the VC.

It's been OK at other airports.

This is one other thing ;D , I had a carrier about 4 miles away

So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs.

Steve,

Are you sure you were landing rwy 20? In my map, and in the ADE airport editor, it shows ILS rwy 02 (I have FSX SP2), so on rwy 20 you would be on backcourse, and you would not have a glide slope.

If you were on 02 then there is an error. The real world airport lists ILS rwy 20. In FSX the localizer and glide path antennas are placed for rwy 20, but mistakenly assigned to rwy 02 and its heading, so the glide path leads to the far end of rwy 02.

For Dalaman, I checked that out in ADE and the ILS for rwy 01 appears correct.

For the comm/nav in the Cessna, move the pointy finger up near the top of the knob to change the 'whole' numbers.

Dave

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Hi Dave,

Sorry about that Dave, it was 02 not 20, glideslope was active but wrong, I did out of curiosity turn on backcourse just to check the localiser only approach and that was fine.

Again with Dalaman it was 01, I choose that because in Sept we had unusual wind direction and approached over the sea, thats not normal for Dalaman it's prevailing wind is from the sea.

I'll let it do an approach into Luton, I did that recently and it was fine. I'll post back with results.

regards

Steve

Hi dave, have now done the flight into Luton which i did last one and was perfect, now whats happening is the same as with the other ils approaches but what I've noticed is the glideslope suddenly drops below me at the threshold, if on autopilot approach it slams me into the ground.

Got to be something I've corrupted somewhere but I know very little about fsx config etc.

Other than that it's a reload but i want to preserve the records of which missions I've done.

regards

Steve
