FSX and Windows 7

I am about to upgrade my system; actualy I am going for a high powered laptop to replace both my desktop and my existing sorry excuse for a laptop. Whatever I get (either an HP Envy 17 or Dell Alienware M17x) will have Windows 7 64 bit installed on it. I am wondering what kind of issues FSX has with Windows 7...?

I recently added Win7 64 in a dual-boot configuration with my existing Xp Pro installation
and haven't noticed any probelms once you get rid of UAC and do a few other things to
allow you to do as you wish on your own system.
First, do NOT install FSX in the "default", ultra-long, ultra-annoying path. I have multiple
disks and multiple partitions so I installed it in the root directory of one of my partitions
on my "X" drive..
( X:Microsoft Flight Simulator X and X:Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK )
When installing FSX, or any addons, select "Run as Administrator"

Running Win7 and have had no issues at all running FSX or addons.

Whats the problem with WIN7 64K by having FSX installed in C: drive default directory? That's what I have. So far seems to work. Should I uninstall and install in another drive?

Honestly, the same issues that can arise with installing FS into the "default path" with any of the Windows operating systems: permissions...
The issue with Win7 is exacerbated by its even more "helpful" protection schemes. While you might not have a problem now, I can guarantee that you will have problems, eventually.
While still at the early stages, take the time to uninstall completely, and then reinstall to your own, custom path such as:
C:\FSX
Then, from Windows Explorer, highlight the path, right-click, and give yourself "full permission" to do whatever you want to any of the files and folders!
