FSX Aircraft Registration

Hey, I want to change the Aircrafts Reg/Tail Number in the config and not just in game so it appears on flight sim everytime.

So I go to
the line in the Config that says:

atc_id=N612AS

And change it to:

atc_id=OY-TFD

However, when I open up Flight Sim, even though I have changed it in the Config, it still gives the aircraft the
registration "N612AS"??

Can anyone help on changing Tail Registrations in the Config?

Thanks, Connor

In FS 20004, in the drop down "Select Aircraft" menu, I change the "ATC Name" to my own Registration letters, and on certain Aircraft, (mainly Default Aircraft and a few Download Aircraft), the registration letters appear on the Aircraft Fuselage, and ATC call me by my Registration letters.

Typical example: Default Beech Baron 58

The Aircraft model has to be designed to accept this special arrangement of personal Registration.

It also depends on which number you are seeing. Default aircraft often do not have a painted on number, but a number created with programming. When you select an aircraft, click on the Details button which takes you to the Aircraft Details window. In the ATC Information section you will see a box beside Tail number: where you can type in a different number. If the aircraft does not have a painted on number, you need to put a check mark in the box beside Show tail number. Then it will show the number you typed in or the default number if you did not type one in. If the aircraft has a painted on number, you need to remove the checkmark from the Show tail number box or you will have both the painted number and the black default number, which are not always the same and do not look good or correct. And if you have a paint program and DXTBmp you can paint your own numbers on any aircraft that does not already have a painted number. If you use ATC, then you will need to change the number in the aircraft.cfg to comply with the painted on number. Hope this helps.
Cheers

Thanks all for your replys,

As far as changing the Tail number in the "Details" box of the aircraft goes, i dont want to do this for the following reason:

1)I have an addon aircraft that im releasing as freeware soon and ive simply painted the Tail number OY-TFD on the side, it isnt like the default planes that changes when you change it in the details, its juts painted on.
      So, Ive painted on OY-TFD, but when you click details, in the editable box it still says N612AS, which looks stupid as painted on the aircraft is OY... and in the box is N6...,
So i figured if i changed it in the config , whenever i click details on the plane it will default it to OY-TFD so that it matches what ive painted on the plane.
   So i changed it in the config to match, but it still says N612AS in the editable box, even though ive changed it in the config?

Anyone help me?

Make sure the line

ui_variation=

Contains the number you want....this is what makes it read in the description

In this case

ui_variation=OY-TFD

Hey, thanks for this but, with this plane, like most, ui_Variation= contibutes to the aircraft name and not the Tail Reg.
For example:
The name is: Boeing 737-700 Cimber Sterling
So to make this name, these three lines one after each other make up the name:

ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=737-700
ui_variation=Cimber Sterling

(These 3 lines make up the name, Including the ui_variation so the ui_variation isnt the Tail Reg)

Thanks anyway :)

Yes,thats what I thought, but as i said in my original post, when i change atc_id=N612AS , to OY-TFD, then it still stays as the N612AS in the details box.

So that doesnt work for me? (Its a POSKY Aircraft BTW)

well theirs your problem its a posky plane no jk
to make it show up like microsoft does is to not paint on the tail number on the aircraft (well i believe) now i would say to ask the people at posky but thats a bad idea and i goto posky and they say you cant upload a file

Umm, I know that because the Reg is just painted on that it wont change on the plane E.T.C.

But even Microsofts Default planes use ui_variation= as the name, not the callsign!

For example, the default World Travel 737-800 is called,
"Boeing 737-800 World Travel Airlines".

So these three lines make up that name:

ui_manufacturer="Boeing"
ui_type="737-800"
ui_variation="World Travel Airlines"

Its not the fact that it is POSKY, its that all planes dont use ui_variation as the callsign but the name.
