Cockpit Gauge problems

Postby FLLflyboy » Mon Jul 26, 2010 9:22 pm

I recently came across some aircraft add-ons for my FSX. They install ok, but when I go fly them, there are dark blank spots where my cockpit gauges should be. I was told to check my gauges folder, but I have no idea what I am looking at. Can someone help me solve this problem? Much thanks to everyone in advance.

Sounds like you didn't move them.

When you download an addon aircraft, you usually need to move a few things.

First, there's the actual aircraft, which has to be moved to the SimObjects folder
Second, there's the effects, you have to move them to the effects folder.
And last but not least, there's the gauges, and there's also a folder in FSX to move them to.

Effects and gauges are usually in a seperate folders with logical names. If not, the readme will probably specify where to move what files.

Gauges can be recognized by the .gau extension.

Hope this helps, if not, let me know.

...or .CAB extension in the case of XML scripted "gauges..." :)

Some add on aircraft use default A/C gauges and look in the FSX gauges folder for them.
Don't ask an aviator if he flys fighters.
