sound problem

This is my first post in almost three years,I have not had a problem that I could not fix on my own until now and from reading this forum for the last 3 years I know you guys know your stuff and hope you can help me too,my problem is that whenever I am flying for awhile and reduce the throttle the sound of the engine does not decrease,so say if I am flying full throttle for example and I reduce the throttle to half the gauges all say I reduced throttle but the sound of the engine stays at full throttle. The sim is still 100% playable but I like makng videos and this is just ruining the realism for me and the videos, even when I am not recording videos it does the same thing and like I said it is getting annoying and ruining my flight sim experience because of this.I'm not giving up though I have been doing flight sim since I was just a little kid when fs 5.1 was out,I'm 27 now and I can actually afford the yokes and throttles and sticks and all that fancy stuff. So I thank you in advance for anyone who can help me figure this little problem out,if I can't fix it I will still fly,I'm not giving up on this thing just because of a little sound problem but it would sure be nice to figure this out.So thanks again and take care.

I should add that I have recently re-installed FSX and the problem is still there

Wondering if it's the same aircraft all the time, or it happens with any aircraft period. Am not an expert on these matters but I recall having read something about pressing the "q" key to cut the sound in FS, then tap "q" again to restore the sound - it might somehow restore the sound settings. Worth a try.

I first noticed it when flying the Gruman Goose then today it happened with the Extra,Cessna 172 and the Maule.I haven't tried the rest of the planes yet but I'm going to try them right now.I will try what you suggested with the "q" key and see if that works thanks and take care.

I've noticed the same problem, usually with the default prop aircraft.  The prop sound will stay at high speed even at idle.  The only way I've found to correct it is to rev the engine back up to full speed, then reduce it to idle again.  It is like the sim gets stuck on that sound, and you have to re sync it.

There is not a bug.
There are two bugs, in fact.

The first one has been mentionned above. When one goes from the cockpit to an external viw and returns, the throttle sound stands at some kind of default value that does not correspond to the actual value.

Usually, the solution is simple: provoque a big variation of throttle (increase or decrease, as you wish), the sound level will jump to the correct value.

The second bug is not exactely a bug. It concerns the jet aircrafts, military or civilians, fighters or liners etc... When the plane accelerates to cruise speed, there is a sound that increases progressively. I suppose this sounds is the sound of the air flow around the aircraft body, but I'm not sure. However, for some reason, in the sim this sound is an engine sound, and it totally covers the real sound of the engines. As a consequence, when you accelerate to a very high speed, and then reduce the throttle command to 0%, the  sound of the engines stays the same, just like if the engines were still at max power. This sound would finally start to decrease when the plane's speed would become slow enough, like below 250 knots or even less.

I don't know if it's an incorrect sound file content, or if it's really the sim that is not looking for the correct sound. I learn to live with this problem, I don't pay attention anymore.

I always notice with my Saitek Cyborg Evo Force Joystick, after first loading up the Sim (FS 2004), I have to work the Throttle and Twist Joystick over its full travel, in all directions, a couple of times to reset everything back to the Zero/Central position before moving off.

I have a Saitek X52 and I have to do that also,if I don't everything is out of whack

this only happens with the prop planes though,at least to me it does,I fly the acceleration F\A-18A Hornet and I know what you mean about the engine sound not decreasing until going slower that's fine, but my problem is when flying let's say the Goose, after flying for awhile at full throttle when I reduce the throttle the engine sound will not decrease at all,I have to go back to full then back to whatever setting I want to use.It does not matter how slow the Goose is going I could be doing 125 knots with throttle complety off and the sound stays at full power. But I'm not going to worry about it I'll do what you do and not pay attention to it,the sim works fine it's just a little problem that I thought was only happening to me,thanks and take care

That's the first bug I was mentionning in my message then ;)

This is a separate problem, not a sound issue like me and the OP are having.

...one more reason to stick with FS9!

The "problem" I have with my Joystick also affects the sound.
Upon initially firing up my FS 2004, the Joystick throttle setting defaults to wide open, and the sound is at its max.
I have to manually operate the Joystick throttle forwards and backwards a number of times to get it to reset to its minimum position...with a tick-over sound.

Otherwise, the aircraft accelerates uncontrollably off the runway at maximum revs, and sound!... :o...!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...FS Nav...and throttling my joystick!... ;)... 8-)...!

Well thats not good either Fozzer :) sounds like a calibration issue,I noticed the saiteks don't really have a calibration option,I read somewhere that they are supposed to calibrate themselves,at least for the X52 which is what I have,

I have to do that sometimes too though with my X52,move the stick around and the throttle too,if I don't the plane fly's all messed up
